Jess Bakeshop is a popular artisanal bakery focused on artisanal sourdough, pastries and sweets with a creative twist. Our bakeshop is all about our craft, respect, compassion, and building a supportive community. We’re excited to welcome a team player who wants to grow with us as our bakeshop expands.
We are seeking a reliable, fast-moving, and proactive Artisan Bread Baker to support daily production at our popular and busy artisanal bakery. Pay to be determined based on skills and experience. Initial two-month trial period, with potential for long-term employment and benefits for full-time employees.
The Artisan Bread Baker must be able to work independently and proactively to produce a variety of sourdough breads, focaccia, ciabatta, baguette, pizza, sourdough bagels, brioche and pastries at volume, following Jess Bakeshop recipes. Ability to work evening and early morning shifts and weekends is a must.
Required skills include (but are not limited to) the following:
- be able to precisely and consistently mix various doughs (sourdough, brioche, etc.)
- possess knowledge and capability to manage dough status under realistic conditions across every season of the year
- develop or recommend new recipes that expand the Jess Bakeshop menu while maintaining the same quality and flavor profile
- divide/portion, shape, roll various doughs
- work with a variety of ingredients
- bake using a variety of ovens - deck oven experience is a must
- work independently with minimal guidance
- maintain a clean workspace which includes cleaning surfaces, cleaning equipment, cleaning dishes, cleaning floors
- ability to lift heavy items is a must
- our bakery is small operation and the Artisan Bread Baker should be able to adapt and multi-task as needed
- maintain ingredient inventory, stock ingredients
- 1+ years working in commercial kitchen required
- must possess a professional attitude and strong work ethic with integrity, have ability to use downtime productively (cleaning, prepping, organizing—not chatting, scrolling or idling)
- punctuality is a must
